About Me

- Hey! I am Chloe and I am going to France on Erasmus to continue with my French studies and explore and experience this beautiful country. I have traveled to many countries and actually lived in different parts of the world but never in France. However, I am from Spain and I know there are some similarities between the Spanish and French so I don't believe I am going to struggle with any cultural shocks because I have already grown up in a Mediterranean country. I love travelling and getting to know new places, I believe this benefits all people and makes them a lot wiser and knowledgeable which is a great benefit.
Practical Knowledge
Chambery is a small town located in the region of Savoie and only 1 hour away from Lyon the 2nd largerst city in France. It is also well situated next to the French Alps and borders Switzerland and Italy.
There are 12,500 students at the University of Savoie. Altogether there are 3 campus sites Annecy-le-Vieux, Le Bourget-du-Lac and Jacob-Bellecombette. I will be going to study at Jacob-Bellecombette to do business and languages.
There are over 250 active agreements with universities abroad in nearly 90 countries therefore there will be many exchange students around. Currently the University of Savoie is number 1 in France for outgoing mobility under the Erasmus scheme as has also been the case the the three previous years, 2009,2010,2011.
At Jacob-Bellecombette there is student accommodation available and the campus is only a 15 minute walk into the centre of town. The number 9 bus route takes you into town and back to the university.
There are a few nightclubs and Irish pubs to go to and meet different people. There is also an indoor swimming pool and an ice-skating rink.
There are a number of airports to fly into which have good access to Chambery. Geneva Airport is inbetween France and Switzerland and has a direct link by rail or coach to the main Geneva Railway Station and Coach Station. There are daily services from both train and coach station to get to Chambery and Annecy.
Lyon Airport has a shuttle service 'Sato Bus' direct from the Airport to Chambery for 16.50 euros. Paris Airport is not as close to Chambery but has excellent high speed rail services (TGV) to Lyon and then change there for Chambery.
